Fela – Army Arrangement
Here is a man that stood firm for his beliefs. Buy his records and learn. The dancers and band are truly in the zone. The groove and funk will get ya!
Herbie Hancock – Chameleon
Recorded live in Chigaco in 1974, this is very funky jazz. Off a great record, too that really laid down a benchmark for many musicians and bands thereafter.
Neil Young – The Needle and the Damage Done
This was recorded on the epic Johnny Cash Show in 1971. Beautiful song for a lost friend with some great guitar work and vocals.
The Doors – Roadhouse Blues
Great live video that captures the Doors rocking out in concert. People lovin it and the cops hatin it.
Curtis Mayfield – People Get Ready
So much soul and thoughtfulness from this man and what a legacy he left for us to enjoy. Love his guitar licks… from very understated to super funky.
Wes Montgomery – Round Midnight
Wes effortlessly plays masterful guitar in this old black and white video. He uses his thumb a lot in a way that many guitar teachers would say is wrong… but Wes Montgomery is actually the teacher 🙂
Gabor Szabo – Gypsy Queen
A jazz guitar legend from Hungary who put out some remarkable records in the 60’s. This track is from his 1966 LP called Spellbinder which features the likes of Ron Carter, Chico Hamilton, Willie Bobo and Victor Pantoja.
Can – Don’t Say No
Live performance in 1977 by experimental German band Can. This is a really cool groove that slowly builds and builds.
